Hi! I’m Anitra.
And I’m a not your average mom blogger. I’m Harold’s BLISSful wife. Momager to #SuperKids #OliviaAllen and #AwesomeAlexAllen. Lover of all things chocolate and grammatically correct, save this introduction. A degreed engineer and former corporate project manager. A vocalist who LOVES Disney Princess songs. And a certified relationship coach and blogger who loves to help busy moms – like you and me – get more done in less time with less stress. And that’s what The Mom On the Move is all about.
ABOUT THE BLOG
The Mom On the Move is my little space of the internet where I share what I have learned in my quest to be the best; the best wife for my husband, the best mother for my children and the best me I can possibly be. I was going about my life living the American dream. I had an engineering degree that led to a good corporate job, making lots of money. I married an awesome man who gave me 3 exceptional kids (but no dog), and we lived in suburban utopia. All was well with life. But as my children grew, became more active and their individual brilliance began to show I felt divided. I needed to fully invest in my family without feeling guilty because of my career.
And then in a six-month time span, I was badly manipulated on the job, lost three very close family members to death and had to make the toughest decision ever: send my bonus son back to live with his biological mom. The stress of it all was overwhelming. But my friends and coworkers were amazed at how well I was “keeping it together” and I realized that what I had once thought were defense mechanisms I used to manage stress were actually highly effective coping strategies. And that’s what I share with you here at The Mom On the Move.
Using my system of Strategic Family Management, you can balance life as a motivated mom with goals of your own raising super kids you have big dreams for as well. By using the same concepts you very likely use every day on your job or running your business and making small changes that impact how you approach your time, your finances and your emotions in an easy to follow, results-based manner. That’s what I want to help you do. I want to help you experience the bliss of having a marriage and parenting that works for you and your family as a mom on the move. As moms, we can support our children, our spouses, and our own dreams without falling apart.
MEET THE FAMILY
He wears his shroud of anonymity like a fine garment, but don’t worry. I’ll get Harold on here soon enough. We met at the tender age of 18 on the campus of Tulane University and have been going steady ever since. He inspired the story in my book Experience B.L.I.S.S. in Your Relationships and is known around these parts as #CoachDaddy. And he fries a mean piece of chicken.
My Super Kids
I have been entrusted with the lives of two amazing little girls and a bonus son. Mothering them has been one of the most rewarding endeavors of my life. And one of the most challenging. I’ve learned how to properly parent all of them and each of them. Every child has brilliance in him/her and it is up to us as parents to nurture, cultivate and bring it out of them.
Olivia C. Allen is the founder of the I Can Be Girls Confidence Conference, which teaches tween girls like herself how to be confident in themselves and go after their dreams. She is also the co-founder of Girls Giving For Good, a non-profit that empowers young people to give back to their communities. An aspiring Hollywood actress, she loves helping people, making people laugh and her favorite snack (and nickname) is pickles. She’s also known as #theactress, #dramadiva, and #dancingqueen.
Alexandra G. Allen is a natural athlete who is determined to win. She is an All-American Sprinter and Junior Olympian who competes in the 60m, 100m, 200m and 400m races. She also plays basketball and flag football. An athlete and a scholar, when she grows up she wants to become an engineer (like her mommy) who builds robots that help people. And drive Uber on the side. She is also known as #theacademic since she skipped kindergarten and is a genius (in her own words).
Trevone Allen is an aspiring rap/hip hop artist whose taste in music varies greatly from Harold’s and mine. A typical teenager, some days he wants to be a part of our family, and other days he doesn’t. He was the first attempt I ever had at parenting and has given me a new perspective on blended families and what it means to be a bonus mom. He is also known as #theboy since he’s the only male offspring.
